This years theme is “Well Done, Good & Faithful Servant!”
Jesus’s last and greatest commission to his followers was to go into all the world and make disciples by teaching them to obey everything that he taught. He said that in order to make a disciple they must know his faith and believe and obey what he taught. This commitment to follow him on the narrow path begins with confession of belief, repentance, and baptism (in water). We were told the road would be filled with suffering once we picked up our cross and began following. However, the reward would be much greater than anything we would have to sacrifice or give up today. Are you willing to follow? If so, one day, Jesus will say, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” What a blessed day that will be!
Luke 19:11-27
While the people were listening to these things, Jesus proceeded to tell a parable, because he was near to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God was going to appear immediately.
Therefore he said, “A nobleman went to a distant country to receive for himself a kingdom and then return. He summoned ten of his servants, gave them ten minas, and said to them,
‘Do business with these until I come back.’
When he returned after receiving the kingdom, he summoned these servants to whom he had given the money. He wanted to know how much they had earned by trading. So the first one came before him and said, ‘Sir, your mina has made ten minas more.’ And the king said to him, ‘Well done, good servant! Because you have been faithful in a very small matter, you will have authority over ten cities.’
Such trials show the proven character of your faith, which is much more valuable than gold—gold that is tested by fire, even though it is passing away—and will bring praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
