Bible Studies

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.  Hebrews 4:12

Always remember when doing Bible study using man’s commentary or listening to a teaching or a sermon, it is essential to go back to the source.  Be diligent and see what is actually written in the Bible before you accept any teaching you hear from other people.

Bible Guides are a great topical resource and they make topical Bible study much easier.

Bible Commentary

Anthony Buzzard and Dan Gill give solid Bible Commentary on these New Testament books.  Because the Bible can be difficult to understand at times, it is helpful to use a commentary.  Always remember  to compare everything you read and hear with what the Bible actually says.

Holy Spirit

God’s Holy Spirit does not have a lot of direct explanation in the Bible.  Therefore, we must look at examples where it is referenced to try to understand more about it.  Again, always go back to the Bible and see what it says when you are using other’s commentary or teachings on a particular subject.

Bible Study on Holy Spirit

Who or what is the holy spirit?

In Part 1, Pastor Sean Finnegan talks to his audience about the problem of translational bias with regard to the subject of holy spirit.

In Part 2 Sean continues his exposition on who or what the holy spirit is.  He then works through the five primary texts used to “prove” the personality of the holy spirit on grammatical grounds (John 14.26; 15.26; 16.13; Ephesians 1.14; 1 John 5.7). Next, he explains how to understand the spirit based on the whole of the Biblical data.  He concludes by showing that it cannot and should not be locked into the Trinitarian dogma.

Discover the wild and exciting story of Christianity for the last 500 years.  Understand how the world ended up the way it is now, and how to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past.  You will gain inspiration from heroic people who made a difference so many years ago!

Son of God

“Son of God” is a title given to humans in the Bible, both in the Old and New Testaments. The biblical definition, unlike “Christian” definitions of the 2nd-5th centuries, does not imply deity (i.e., it doesn’t mean “God the Son”). “Son of God” in the Bible refers to the human descendant.”
